designing with type

Karly Barrett has a great graphic design blog, so you should be reading it if you aren’t already. I’m particularly fond of the fact that she provides lots of examples of her creative process… so helpful to a newbie like me. Her most recent post is all about designing with type. Here’s her take on the common cliche at the crack of dawn.

I love the @ sun. What a great idea!

We had to do a similar exercise in typography class, only using a single word rather than a phrase or cliche. With only type, we had to design a word doing what it says. I chose the word stacked.

I just noticed this post. Thanks for sharing the love.

I like your take on stacked. It has nice balance and even though the word is teetering a little, I don’t get the feeling that it is going to fall over. I actually posted about designing a single word as well. You can see that post here: Designing Expressive Words.
